I'd like to know what opportunities, if any, might be available to me now or in the near future regarding my love life, and how I might make the best of them. To give you a little background, I'm a lesbian who has never been with a woman and I'm very shy about opening up and getting to know people in general, but I'm getting to the stage where I would really like to change this.  Thank you very much for any insight you can give me.

The Lover card has made it's appearance in regard to your question, and it certainly seems to indicate that you will find a mutual attraction with another very soon -- if this has not already started happening.  With such a significant card coming from the Major Arcana of the Tarot, there are likely to be some important choices for you in the near future as well, which will involve a potential relationship with someone.  If you don't feel this happening now, it is just around the corner.

You have expressed a desire and need to change in a way that lets you open up more to people.  The card of the Lover indicates that now is indeed a time to look toward more social interactions so that you can meet a variety of people for both friendships and a potential relationship.

This card can also represent your personal beliefs, because to make decisions, you must know where you stand.  Following your own path can mean going against those who are urging you in a direction that is wrong for you.  Stick to your resolutions; make firm decisions.  It seems you have already made a choice in the kind of relationship you wish to have, and as long as you know this is right for you, then it is!  Don't let others make this important choice for you or try to sway you from what you need and want in a relationship.

Follow your heart and your intuition, for the nature of the situation is emotional and involves acting on your true feelings.  It's about choices made from the heart :-)
