and that I will actually get what I pay for? |
This
is something a lot of people are concerned about when dealing with online
businesses -- and they should be! Some things you should look for
in any internet business are:
*Do they have
their own domain name?* -- I do!
Those
of us who have our own domain name, such as www.tarotwisdomreadings.com,
(vs. a long, borrowed name such as www.wonderfulwebhostingcompany/site/blah-blah/myreadings.com)
have to pay for this real domain name on at least a yearly basis.
So those who are paying for this service are going to be sticking around!
*Do they pay for
their own web hosting?* -- I do!
People such as myself who pay for web hosting services a year in advance
aren't going to want to run away after spending that kind of money!
I have nothing at all against a free web host, but those users are the
ones who can more easily "run" because they haven't put out any money of
their own. Also, services with a free web host are frequently slow
and unreliable with a lot of down time . . . and I know I sure don't
want that for my clients and visitors!
*Do they offer
secure payment methods?* -- I do!
It would be unfair for me to say that "everyone" who either uses a free
web host service or requests payment by check or money order by mail will
cheat you, because that is certainly not always true! But I personally
prefer a secure method of payment for my clients. I shop online
a lot, and I know I want to feel confident that I'm going to get what I
pay for! Thus, as a small business owner, I use Pay Pal to
offer a convenient and secure way to pay online. I have used
Pay Pal in Ebay auctions and other online purchases for over 6 years now,
and it has worked wonderfully for me. It's a secure method of payment,
because the vendor never has access to your account information.
I now have a business account with Pay Pal, upgraded from the personal
account I previously used. I know I can trust this organization,
and therefore, I can offer this to my customers as a convenient pay method.
Certainly merchant accounts are nice as well, but those are geared for
the big businesses that can afford this high cost. Thus, I have found
secure methods of payment with a minimal cost that won't cost more than
what I actually earn!
The only time I accept a money order or cashier's check by mail is by customer request. This usually only happens when someone does not have a credit or debit card or a checking account. So it's rare.
If you would like

the bottom of this page on the site map. Of course, I encourage you
to check it out so that you won't just have to take *my* word for it. ;-)
