Astrological
Tarot Reading
~for
the year ahead~
Card 1:
First House -- House of Self (ruled by the Sign Aries and the Planet
Mars)
The First House
is all about you -- your appearance, how you think about yourself, and
how you choose to present yourself in relationships with other people.
Card 2:
Second House -- House of Possessions (ruled by the Sign Taurus and
the Planet Venus)
The Second House
is related to things you own . . . in terms of finances, money, material
possessions, resources, income, property, etc. -- everything that is available
to help you live your life the way you want. This House is also about
how you use your time (which is another resource, although an intangible
one).
Card 3:
Third House -- House of Communication (ruled by the sign Gemini and
the planet Mercury)
Communications are
highlighted in the Third House -- the kind you make in person through the
use of speech, writing, sign language, body language, facial expressions,
etc. It can also be via the written methods -- such as email or letters.
Travel is also ruled by the Third House. This is the house of "busy-ness"
. . . taking care of the routine things that are the necessities of life.
Card 4:
Fourth House -- House of Family and Home (ruled by the Sign Cancer
and the Moon)
This House involves
family, relatives, home, roots, heritage, history, and security issues.
This House can also involve things of your past -- including your past
experiences, people, and places from your past, and how you feel about
them now. This House is also related to buying, selling, renting,
and owning land, buildings, apartment, condos, or other fixed forms of
wealth (which is a form of security that may affect the idea of house and
family).
Card 5:
Fifth House -- House of Pleasure and Creativity (ruled by the Sign
Leo and the Sun)
The Fifth House
is related to your creative abilities, to be lucky, and to enjoy the pleasures
of life. It can involve any kind of creative endeavor. Additionally,
gambling, investments, sports, and risk-taking can come up in Fifth House
matters. It is what represents the "thrill" of life for you . . .
the things that are pleasureable and fun. This may also include love,
romance, children, hobbies, or anything you view as something "fun" to
spend your time with. It also has to do with the relations between
people.
Card 6:
Sixth House -- House of Health, Service, and Work (ruled by the Sign
Virgo and the Planet Mercury)
The Sixth House
rules the state of your health as well as what you put into your body.
It also rules how things work -- such as your job, employees, devices that
work for you, and also how your body works. This house rules food,
farming, planting, cooking, exercise, physicians, and servants. This
House is associated with work and service to the community.
Card 7:
Seventh House -- House of Partnerships and Commitment (ruled by the
Sign Libra and Planet Venus)
This House rules
committed relationships of a romantic and business nature. Such relationships
don't necessarily have to be marriage, but definitely not of the casual
or fleeting type. It's about relationships that are destined to last
for a long time. In terms of business relationships, this can involve
oral or written contractually binding agreements between people.
This is the house of rules and law, though not necessarily of justice.
Court cases, lawsuits, and negotiations are all Seventh House matters.
This House involves obligations.
Card 8:
Eighth House -- House of Sex and the Transmission and Exchange of Resources
(ruled by the Sign Scorpio and the Planets Mars and Pluto)
The Eighth House
rules the transmission and exchange of resources and other kinds of energy
between you and others. This is the house of extremes (such as "good"
and "evil," man and woman, and yin and yang). It can also involve
the extremes of power, whether good or bad. This is also considered
the "House of Other People's Money) where loans, money you manage for others,
and inheritances may be involved. Resurrection, rebirth, transformation,
and endings are also energies of this house.
Card 9:
Ninth House -- House of Philosophy and Exchange of Information (ruled
by the Sign Sagittarius and the Planet Jupiter)
The Ninth House
is associated with philosophies, religions, and belief systems. This
is also about higher education. It involves the exchange of ideas,
and can also include aspects of travel -- the things that broaden your
understanding of the world, or that allows you to exchange ideas with many
different people. The exchange of information can arise through books,
newspapers, magazines, and electronically transmitted information of all
kinds -- such as the internet, television, radio, and other wireless communication
devices. The communications ruled by the Ninth House are about sharing
college level thinking, expert advice, historical facts, philosophy, and
research.
Card 10:
Tenth House -- House of Social Status and Authority (ruled by the Sign
Capricorn and the Planet Saturn)
This House refers
to your highest ambitions, which may be seen through your career.
It represents the place you have attained in your social (or work/career)
group and in society as a whole. It's about how you are recognized
or categorized by society. In terms of authority, this House shows
how you feel about the idea of "authority" or being such a figure in a
group setting. How you respect yourself and how you feel about becoming
an authority are Tenth House matters. This House involes the roles
you choose and how you fill them. In a more practical context, employers
and their rules are covered here, as are any other organizations which
have the ability to rule over us.
Card 11:
Eleventh House -- House of Friendships and Group Interractions (ruled
by the Sign Aquarius and the Planets Saturn and Uranus)
The Eleventh House
has to do with friends and other groups of people that you interact with,
because you share common goals and aspirations, or because you can be more
effective banding together to accomplish those goals. This House
also rules the unexpected in any form, a factor that should be considered
in all forecasts of the future.
Card 12:
Twelfth House -- House of the Subconscious, Weakness, and Restrictions
(ruled by the Sign Pisces and the Planets Jupiter and Neptune)
This House deals
with the review of where we have been (and what we've done) and where we
decide to go from there. There is a focus on strengths and weaknesses
which may be hidden from public view. This House deals with the internal
things within us -- including how we feel weak or restricted. It
can also be considered in terms of confronting karma. . . for it is in
this house that we meet up with the results of everything we have done.
The last House of the zodiac also recognizes that we can feel bound in
life -- stuck and confined. For this reason, the Twelfh House rules
jails, hopsitals, institutions, and any space (or situation) that inhibits
our sense of freedom. Danger, secret enemies, or affairs are also
issues to beware of in this House. Although this last House seems
pretty touch, it's actually here that we stand on the precipice and determine
how we will proceed. By visiting the unconscious and meeting with
the past, we begin to formulate what the future will bring to us.
This is a good reading to look at important areas for the year ahead. This is not one that goes month by month, but instead highlights the areas of the astrological houses in which you might feel an especially strong impact during the year. This "impact" could be positive or negative, but having an idea for the things to watch for through the year can be a helpful guide in planning and preparing for major ideas, ventures, and events in your life.
