This is a beautifully illustrated Tarot deck, designed in the decorative art nouveau style. Matt Myers used human models for his inspiration in creating this lovely deck. The distinct facial features, card coloring, and imagery are pleasing to the eyes and display the wonderful talent of Myers.
I have used this deck often in relationship readings for my clients, and they have loved seeing these images in their card readings. It's an attractive deck choice for the client who has questions pertaining to matters of the heart, and the reader will enjoy the deck as well.
Because the cards offer so much in the images toward the interpretation and understanding of what they truly mean and represent, a beginner could make good use of this deck. It's easy to empathize with the scenes on the card, and they provoke natural emotions within when viewing these stunning images. However, I still hesitate to recommend this deck to a beginner to Tarot if it's the only deck that the new reader plans to use. The reason is that the suits are not easily identifiable at first. Thus if you are unfamiliar with reading with this deck -- especially if you're just starting out -- you may have difficulty in distinguishing some of the swords from the staves. However, with practice, it becomes easier to determine which card is which, and the rewards of getting to know this deck are worth the effort and practice.
If a beginner wanted this deck as a second deck, or one to use in just relationship readings, then I think that would work out very well, as the Tarot newcomer will also have a standard deck for his or her main study.
One other mention about this deck is that Justice is card 8 and Strength is card 11 in this Tarot deck. I prefer it the other way around as in most decks, however, it doesn't take away from the effectiveness of the deck, so I am flexible enough to allow for some element of change in the cards I read with. Most readers are fine with this as well.
