Although this deck of cards are technically called "Universal Power Cards," they are essentially a Tarot deck with 22 Major Arcana that strongly resemble the traditional Tarot Majors as well as four suits of 14 cards each (as you will see in traditional Tarot for the suits).  I have no problem working with this deck in true Tarot form.  It's a lovely deck with muted and expressive tones.  The art is actually paintings done by Emy Ledbetter.  Anyone who has an appreciation for art will like these cards.

The deck contains five categories, as follows:
(Information is obtained from the explanation cards included with the deck.)

I.  Universal Guardians (the Major Arcana)
Encompasses all aspects of the other categories
II. Goddesses -- Hearts (Cups)
"The Goddess category is designed to give you access to deeper emotions, both
personally and in relationships.  The Goddess cards walk in love, kindness, and
truth.  They provide guidance in the exploration of love, and in all of the
wonders that the heart has to offer.  The Goddess cards can help heal old hurts
and release a person from past bonds."  (sounds very much like traditional
        Tarot Cups to me)
III. Angels -- Clubs (Wands)
"The Angel category represents spirit.  These spiritual guides can help align
and balance you physically, mentally, and emotionally.  It is with the Angel
cards that you find the kind of faith that will move mountains and allow the
impossible to become possible.  The Angel cards will assist in finding the
light at the end of the tunnel and realizing that the light has always been
inside each and every one of us.  The Angel cards inspire us to have faith to
move forward to the next opportunity.  It is here that we find some of life's
greatest rewards."  (This spirit quality is often represented by the traditional
        Wands suit.)
IV. Ancient Asians -- Spades (Swords)
"The Ancient Asian category will assist you in understanding the mental
processes going on in your life.  This category deals with all forms of thought,
including conscious and subconscious thought.  It is in this category that
information becomes knowledge; knowledge translates to wisdom; and wisdom
will guide you to your goals and destinies.  The Ancient Asian cards can help
guide you in the wisdom of knowing when and how to use your knowledge.
This will allow you to improve your life and the lives of the people around you."
(Traditional Swords also speak of thoughts and mental processes.)
V. Native Americans -- Diamonds (Pentacles)
"The Native American category represents the physical aspects of the world.
These cards are designed to show the relationship between you and the
surrounding material world.  With the Native American cards, questiions of
wealth, financial prosperity, and material gain can be answered.  These cards
are here to guide you in manifesting prosperity in the material world, with
the intention of making the world a better place now, and for future
generations."  (The traditional suit of Pentacles deals with the material and
physical aspects of life, as well.)

The upright cards in this deck typically convey a positive meaning, while the reversals show challenges or problem areas that need attention.  This varies from a traditional deck, as in a standard Tarot deck, an upright card may contain either "positive" or "negative" messages, and the same is true with the reversals -- they can be either positive or negative, depending on the card.  Thus, one does need to keep in mind that this is not a regular Tarot deck, but has some unique meanings . . . however, you can find a touch of familiarity in some of the cards when comparing with a traditional Tarot deck.

Each Major card of the Guardians of Wisdom deck includes a card title and a phrase for both the upright and the reversed meanings.  The Minors are similarly done, except the keyword noted is different between upright and reversed meanings.

The deck is designed to be user-friendly, even for the beginner.  Those with Tarot experience can use their existing knowledge to expand the scope of the card meanings offered.

I recommend this deck for anyone who has an appreciation for art paintings, as well as for anyone wanting a fresh insight and perspective with the cards.
