The art in Tarot of Love is very pleasing to the eye with beautiful color. The scenes are presented on a white background. The gold and silver coloring stand out in a way that is shiny, almost like a 3-dimensional appearance. I've had this deck for several years and used it frequently for quite some time. I had it posted on the site during the early days of Tarot Wisdom Readings, but then I had taken some decks off, and this one was among those. Now I've decided to let Tarot of Love return to my site, because it is a worthwhile deck to use and explore, especially for questions regarding love. Yet this deck also goes further by offering insights into other kinds of relationships, too -- such as relationships with family, friends, partners, or other associates.
In this deck, most of the Major Arcana cards are renamed to represent more positive and emotional issues. The suit names are also different from traditional Tarot with Cups as Blossoms, Wands as Rods, Swords as Lightnings, and Pentacles as Nuggets. These changes are intended to be more suited to the deck's purpose of responding to emotional inquiries.
The instruction booklet that accompanies Tarot of Love offers a lot of information, especially for the Major cards. This deck can be purchased as a book and cards set, which I recommend. The book is entitled, Tarot of Love: A tarot for creative living and positive solutions in personal relations. This book greatly expands on the meanings for each card from the perspective of relationships and has five sections for each card to apply to the specific kind of relationship being asked about:
1) General
2) Love
3) Family
4) Partner/Friends
5) Not Conscious
(for reversals)
I like this system, as it has merit for individual types of relationships. The focus can be on any kind of relationship, rather than just solely focusing on love relationships. Love relationships are indeed the most popular of inquiries, and this deck can address those issues as well as situations with a co-worker, a friend, or family member.
Although it's not at all essential to use a specific deck for one specific area of concern such as relationships, it can be a more focused way to look at these matters.
I do not recommend this deck for a beginning Tarot student, but those who have experience in Tarot may find Tarot of Love to be useful in relationship questions. It's also a deck that collectors may enjoy having as part of their collection. Beautiful images along with the emotional content of this deck make it an attractive choice for looking at all types of relationship issues.
