This is an intriguing deck, drawn with detailed images of figures from Celtic, Greek, and Roman mythology, among others. The Major Arcana cards show the astrological sign and Hebrew letter that correspond to that card. This adds an interesting element to the cards. If you know astrology, it will help give you more specific meanings for the cards. The suits of the Minor Arcana are the traditional Cups, Wands, Swords, and Pentacles. This deck is useful for intuitive Tarot readings as well as astrological readings. The art is very good, and I like the lavender colored borders on the cards. It's not a complicated deck, so even newcomers to the Tarot can find this to be a useful deck, especially if you are already familiar with the Rider-Waite Tarot.
The philosophy behind the Spiral Tarot is that "each phase of life has a beginning, runs its course, and comes to an end before moving on to the next cycle."
The Spiral is a symbol from the Celtic and other cultures which refers to the circle of life, death, and rebirth. Although no spirals appear with the card images, the backs of the cards have a spiral design on a blue background. Many interesting pictures make up this deck . . . including some Abraham Lincoln look-alikes on some of the cards (such as the Two of Cups and Six of Cups, for example). This struck me as interesting, especially with some of the cards seeming to be coming out of an old-time setting, while others seem to be more from a New-Age kind of trend.
Although not one of my personal favorites, this is a nice deck. I particularly like the old-time scenes that seem to be from the Civil War era, such as the Six of Cups above. And then there are the cards with more vibrant colors, such as the Temperance card, among others. It's a deck that has variety, and may especially appeal to those with a knowledge of astrology.
