Le Tarot Du Chat is a french Tarot deck devoted to cats. Instead of humans, the cards feature cats in European style. The deck and accompanying book are totally in French -- no English versions available. However, if you are familiar with the structure of Tarot, it will be easy to identify which card is which. Reading the accompanying book will be a problem, however, if you don't know the French language. This is also a deck which has long been out of print and hard to find, so those who are interested in owning Le Tarot Du Chat will need to look at various sources -- such as the Amazon marketplace, Ebay, etc. I was able to get my copy from The Tarot Garden quite some time ago. When decks go out of print and become scarcer to locate, the prices generally tend to go up, sometimes making a deck out of reach because of the cost.
The cards measure approximately 4-5/8" x 2-1/2" and have a matte finish. cards feature The back of each card is a solid shade of purple, and all the cards have a white border around the image. The Major Arcana cards list the number of the card at top with the name of the card at the bottom border. The art is simple, but pleasing to look at. A lot of people would classify this as a "cute" deck, and so it might not be appealing to those who are opposed to anything cute in the Tarot.
Those who love cats will find this to be a fun and light hearted deck to work with. But as with fun and charming decks such as this one, you can still get a meaningful reading. The court cards are also labeled with the name of the card, while the pip cards only contain the number of the card at the top, in most cases. The aces do not list any number or name. The Major Arcana and Court cards feature cats that are anthromorphised while the pip cards present regular cats. The authors of this deck intended to create a Marseille-styled deck, and it does remind one of that style as it shows the number of items with a cat for a each card -- such as nine flowers for the Nine of Coins.
The deck is based on the use of color, and those who have knowledge of color correspondences can usually tap into the deeper meanings of the cards. The colors and pictures together can make for an intuitive reading. In addition to color, the cards make use of clothing or body parts as symbols.
For those who are not so attuned to color correspondences, here is a helpful list:
