The Midas Touch
You probably remember the fairy tale about King Midas who was granted a wish for everything he touched to turn into gold. How wonderful that seemed until his own daughter was turned into a gold statue. The moral of this story is that there are things far more precious and close to our hearts than gold or material wealth. Another message here is to think ahead about the consequences of your choices. The appearance of the Midas Touch card is a signal that the time has come for you to recognize the values that govern your life and understand how those principles reflect the choices you make each day. Balance is necessary. This is a time to set things straight and live your life according to a higher code of ethics where goodwill is extended to all. The "Midas Touch" can be a positive thing when used constructively. We often hear about a person having the "Midas Touch" because it seems that everything goes so well for that person and that he gets what he wants from life. But a person who has what seems to be the "Midas Touch" gets what he has through his own choices and actions.
We all have the ability to shape the world with fairness and integrity. All actions and deeds come around in full circle, so this card relates to the laws of karma. Here is a card that reminds us how true wealth is forever buried within the hearts of those who are generous and empowered with the virtue of Justice.
Justice is the traditional card in the Tarot to which the Midas Touch relates. Life may be balanced with fairness, truth and honesty, and integrity at this time. If things have been unbalanced or chaotic in your world, the appearance of this card suggests that you may reach an equitable agreement or compromise on some issue. Decisions at this time should be made without prejudice, bias, or preconceptions. Strive for harmony in your situations. Put issues into their proper perspective, and be willing to listen to opposing points of view. That doesn't mean that you have to agree, but if you listen to the other side of an issue, they should also at least be willing to listen to your side so that some kind of mutual agreement or understanding can be reached.
If you are dealing with a legal matter, things will likely be settled in your favor. When this card appears, there may be contracts or legal documents to sign. In any event, the outcome will be fair in what you are dealing with. As mentioned, the Midas Touch is weighted heavily in Karmic Law which indicates that something you have done in the past, whether good or bad, now comes back to you in the form of a consequence. A "cause" that you set in motion now returns as an "effect." This is likely to be an experience of good karma that you created in the past, and if that is the case, then the goodness you have done in the past may now be returned to you multiplied.
The laws of justice are simple: Be considerate. If it isn't yours, don't take it. Accept responsibility for your own actions. If you make a mistake, admit it, and say you're sorry. Help others when you can, but know the difference between interference and assistance. Do what you know is the right thing. Practice the golden rule . . . Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Stand up for yourself and for what you believe. Have the courage of your convictions. Strive to treat everyone fairly, yourself included, and the scales will always tip in your favor. Truth and justice will prevail, whether karmic, moral, ethical, or legal, and you will get what you deserve.
If someone has wronged you, this card indicates that you may receive an apology. You and this person may be able to work things out. This is a time to act with honesty. There is clarity to help you break through any illusions or deception. Look objectively at an issue and see what is really there -- not just what you want to see. You are able to work cooperatively in situations and bring equilibrium to what is out of balance or misaligned. You might also be finding closure on some important issue in your life.
